All requirements outlined here are considered requirements for any Web site, on or off University servers, that attempts to relay information, conduct business or conduct research on behalf or at the expense of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Secure Transactions
FORMS
Forms submitted through email can only request information that is considered directory information. Directory information is information such as name, address, telephone number, date and place of birth, honors and awards, and dates of attendance, etc. Items that may not be requested on forms include Social Security number, credit card information and bank account information. In addition the SIU issued “Dawg Tag” may not be requested.
Forms submitted to a database that is not secure can only request information that is considered directory information. Most University Web servers do not have security measures in place. Please use caution when requesting non-directory information. Talk to your Web site administrator to find out if your Web server has security measures in place.
